Abstract

Recently, microRNAs (miRNAs) have emerged as key factorsinvolved in a series of biological processes, ranging fromembryogenesis to programmed cell death. Its link to aberrantexpression profiles has rendered it a potentially attractive toolfor the diagnosis, prognosis, or treatment of various diseases.Accumulating evidence has indicated that miRNAs act astumor suppressors in hepatocyte malignant transformationby regulating development, differentiation, proliferation, andtumorigenesis. Here, we summarize recent progress in thedevelopment of novel biomarker-based miRNA therapeuticstrategies for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
