In response to a perceived need for articles that present novel methods that include practical details, Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology (JCTH) is developing a special manuscript category, and section in the journal called “Tricks of the Trade”. The aim is to present important advances and novel improvements, in methodology in basic and clinical research in the field of hepatology. Descriptions of the methods for the use of special instruments, protocols, programs, devices used for basic and clinical studies (e.g. a homemade device, etc.) will also be acceptable.

The manuscripts accepted for this section are required to be well controlled and provide results of sufficient experiments that demonstrate optimization of the important parameters such as concentrations, temperature, duration, pH, etc. Manuscripts must also demonstrate reproducibility supported by appropriate data and statistics, and include with step-by-step instructions which include detailed technical advice, and pitfalls. The discussion must make the case for novelty.

Authors are also encouraged to link to videos showing the author performing special techniques or methods where applicable.
